Privacy policy
This policy describes how Kinplate, operated by Elixent Technologies PVT LTD, handles information on kinplate.app and in the Kinplate app. It follows the product design: keep as little as we can, keep household data inside that household, and delete it when you ask.
The waitlist
If you join the waitlist, we store the email address you submit. We use it to tell you when a place opens. We keep it until you ask us to delete it. We do not sell it, and we do not send other marketing to it.
Your account
The app is for adults. Sign-in is through Supabase Auth, using Apple, Google, or email as the app offers them. We store the account id from that sign-in, and the profile details you set: display name, time zone, units, and whether you agree to marketing. There are no child accounts and no child sign-in.
The household
Recipes, ingredients, steps, pantry items, cook-next choices, and grocery lists belong to the household. Members of that household can see them. They are not mixed with another household.
Recipes you import
- A website, YouTube, or TikTok link is fetched for the written recipe: the page text, the video description, or the public oEmbed. This version does not download the video or transcribe its audio.
- A screenshot or cookbook page is read on your phone. Kinplate receives the words, not the photo.
- Text you paste is stored as the recipe you asked us to save.
The pantry
- A fridge photo is stored in a private bucket so Kinplate can suggest foods. You confirm a suggestion before it enters the pantry. The photo file is deleted within 24 hours.
- A receipt image stays on your phone. The words read from it are sent so the purchase and the spending total can be saved.
What we do not take
- We do not read health data from your phone. A meal preference is stored as a preference, not as a medical record.
- We do not take payment card numbers. If a later version hands a list to a store, you pay in that store’s own app.
- We do not sell personal information.
Who else receives it
- Supabase stores the database, sign-in, and fridge photos. The database is in the United States.
- OpenAI receives recipe text and receipt text so they can be turned into a structured recipe or a purchase. Those requests do not include your email or account name.
- YouTube receives a video link when you import one, so the description can be read. TikTok receives a link when you import one, through its public oEmbed.
- Product events, such as a recipe being saved, may be sent to PostHog with a household id rather than your email. Crash reports may be sent to Sentry so we can fix the service. Those reports are not used to advertise to you.
How long we keep it
- Fridge photos: deleted within 24 hours.
- Household recipes, pantry items, receipts, and lists: until you delete the item or delete the account.
- Deleting the account revokes sign-in sessions and removes the household data stored with it.
- A record that an AI call was made, with the feature, model, and token counts, is kept to run and limit the service. It does not include the text that was sent.
- Product analytics are kept for up to one year.
- A waitlist email is kept until you ask us to delete it.
Your choices
You can edit your profile in the app, delete an item, and delete the account. Deleting the account is also described at kinplate.app/data-deletion. You can ask for a copy of the information we hold. We do not sell personal information, so there is no sale to opt out of.
